Sacramento, CA – In response to the Governor’s State of the State, Assembly Member Anthony Rendon issued the following statement.

“I applaud Governor Brown for his strong commitment to creating jobs, providing better access to education, expanding affordable health and responsibly managing water. These issues are of vital importance to the constituents of the 63rd Assembly District.  Many of the communities in my district face double-digit unemployment, under-funded schools struggling to meet the needs of students, families facing above-average asthma rates, and residents who can’t get access to reliable, clean and safe drinking water.

Vows to make high quality public education for all a top priority

(SACRAMENTO) — Professor and small businessman Anthony Rendon (D-Lynwood) today was sworn in as the Assemblymember for the 63rd Assembly District, which includes the communities of Bell, Cudahy, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Long Beach, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount and South Gate. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol at noon.

"I am a strong believer that our short- and long-term economic and job growth is dependent on investment in education," said Rendon. "One of my legislative priorities will be to work to ensure that no-cost publicly funded pre-school services for income-qualifying families and high-quality, low-cost public community colleges and universities are made available for all Californians.
