SACRAMENTO, CA - Today, Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache Jr. (D-Lynwood) released the following statement regarding the 2025-26 California State Budget passed by the Legislature:
“As your representative, I am proud to support a budget that protects the health, dignity, and future of our communities. At a time when so many families are struggling to make ends meet, this budget delivers on our responsibility to invest in what matters most - education, housing, health, and human services.
I’m especially encouraged by the protections for reproductive health providers and Medi-Cal access, which ensure our communities can continue receiving care without fear of losing critical services. These investments are vital for those who are too often overlooked and underserved.
The budget also makes historic investments in education - including more than $25,000 in per-pupil funding and a cost-of-living adjustment for our TK-12 schools - and rejects proposed cuts to our UC and CSU systems. This affirms our belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, no matter their background or zip code.
We’re preserving vital housing and homelessness prevention programs, strengthening food banks and child care, and protecting services that support some of the most vulnerable members of our community. And we’re doing so while preserving reserves for future needs.
I will continue to champion policies that bring real, tangible relief to working families, students, and underserved neighborhoods throughout our district. Our work is far from over, but this budget is a meaningful step forward in building a California where everyone - regardless of status - can thrive.”
Assemblymember Solache represents California’s 62nd Assembly District, which includes the communities of Lynwood, South Gate, Walnut Park, Huntington Park, Maywood, Paramount, Lakewood, and Bellflower.
