PARAMOUNT, CA — Today, Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache (D–Lynwood) responded to alarming immigration enforcement activity in the City of Paramount, where multiple ICE and Border Patrol vehicles were seen entering the Paramount Business Park on Alondra Boulevard. Assemblymember Solache personally observed the scene and remained on-site throughout the day to monitor the situation, share updates with immigration rapid response networks, and stand in solidarity with affected residents.
Community members gathered peacefully outside the business park to protest the unannounced federal activity. In the course of this gathering, tear gas was deployed by federal agents near a neighborhood and local businesses—causing confusion, fear, and distress in the community.
"This is an absolute outrage," said Assemblymember Solache.
"What happened today in Paramount is part of a disturbing pattern of intimidation and violence aimed at working-class immigrant communities. These families deserve protection—not tear gas. Not raids. Not fear."
Earlier this morning, Assemblymember Solache posted live videos to Instagram documenting the ICE vehicles entering the business park and the community's peaceful protest response. He also participated in a live interview with CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights), expressing his concern about the impact of today's actions and calling for immediate accountability.
"ICE raids in our communities and the arrest of peaceful labor leaders like SEIU President David Huerta send a chilling message," Solache continued.
"I am heartbroken, angry, and more determined than ever to stand with our immigrant families. I will continue to use my voice in the State Assembly to demand transparency, justice, and dignity for every resident—regardless of immigration status."
Assemblymember Solache has committed to ongoing collaboration with legal advocates, immigrant rights organizations, and state officials to monitor enforcement practices, safeguard residents' rights, and pursue policy solutions that uphold California's values of inclusion and safety for all.
