Holiday Open House

I invite you to attend my annual Holiday Open House & Legislative Update on Wednesday, December 2. Come enjoy food, music and good company while I discuss some of the issues I have been working on in Sacramento, such as revitalizing the Lower LA River and making sure our schools have access to safe drinking water.

Hawaiian Gardens Fun Run this Saturday

You’re invited to burn off some calories at the second annual Hawaiian Gardens 3k Fun Run/Walk.

Race Registration Information

After the 3k (1.8 mile) run/walk, stick around for a health fair where you’ll find resources about health care, nutrition and how to stay fit this holiday season.

The health fair will include dental screenings, information on diabetic food care, and bone density and vaccine screenings.  Representatives from Covered California will be on hand to answer questions about purchasing health insurance under California’s health benefit exchange.

Access to California’s Coastline

You're invited to an informational hearing by the Assembly Select Committee on Expanding Access to California's Natural Resources.

 

Our state's beaches and coastlines are becoming increasingly less accessible for California's low-income communities. I invite you to come speak with me and other state representatives about solutions to expand coastal access.

A recent video released by Parks Now highlights the many challenges inland communities, particularly young people of color, face when trying to get to the coast.

Citizenship Workshop & Fee Waiver Assistance

Join me for a Citizenship and Fee Waiver Assistance Workshop to educate and motivate the millions of eligible legal permanent residents to apply for U.S. Citizenship. Representatives from The New Americans Campaign, The NALEO Educational Fund, and The ya es hora ¡CIUDADANIA! Campaign will be there to provide information and assistance.

Today, the campaign continues to engage eligible legal permanent residents in the naturalization process to become US citizens. By becoming US citizens, Latinos can fully participate in the American democratic process.

Water Dialogue Speaker Series
