(Sacramento) - Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) joined over 40 colleagues for a silent vigil on the steps of the State Capitol to show their solidarity with the thousands of students across the country participating in the National School Walkout to remember the 17 young lives that were lost in a school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Rendon and the others stood silent for 17 minutes to honor each of the young lives lost in the Parkland shooting. “California has always led the way on gun control, but today it was about us as legislators, as staff, as Californians joining the students who are standing up for themselves, standing up for their rights, and standing up for their lives,” said Speaker Rendon.
