(Long Beach, CA) – Two major power outages in Long Beach in July affected tens of thousands of residents for days. Many believe that Southern California Edison did not act expeditiously enough to get the power back on. The outages affected business and put many disabled and elderly residents at risk during the heat of summer. California State Assemblymember Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) hosted a town hall forum at Cesar Chavez Park to get answers from the utility and to gather input from the community.
“I am disappointed in Edison’s failure to properly operate and oversee its underground network in Long Beach,” said Assemblymember Rendon. “My legislative colleagues and I will stay in close contact with Edison to ensure the identified deficiencies in the underground system are repaired.”
Assemblymember Rendon is also the Chair of the Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee. He was joined by Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell and other lawmakers. Watch this Assembly Access Video to hear comments from Assemblymember Rendon.
