Speaker Rendon Leads Assembly Delegation to United Nations Climate Conference

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO— Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) will lead a delegation of Assemblymembers to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. The goal of the Assembly delegation will be to inspire other nations to adopt more urgent climate policies and to learn progressive policies from other nations that may benefit California.

“California, with the Assembly in a leadership position, has worked hard for well over a decade to reduce our state’s greenhouse gas emissions, develop new clean industries and give low-income communities tools for dealing with climate change. I’m looking forward to sharing what we have learned and talking about the challenges we still face. We need to continue the drastic reduction of our emissions, reduce our reliance on carbon fuels, and build communities that are resilient to climate change. Catastrophic sea rise, drought, flooding and fires are all things we face in California. This conference should help our state continue its global leadership,” said Rendon.
