SACRAMENTO— Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D- Lakewood) today released the following statement in response to the Legislative Analyst’s Office annual fiscal outlook:
“The Legislative Analyst’s fiscal estimates give California’s leadership a lot to be happy about. It’s fair to say that this independent report card reminds us that the Legislature has done a great job in recent years of establishing budgets that attend to California’s current needs while prudently setting aside reserves for the future.
That said, the state is not in this alone. Federal actions may hurt our budget in three ways: by damaging the economy as a whole, by hurling fiscal threats at our revenues, and by withholding funds for programs that benefit Californians. Our health and human services, housing, education, transportation and environmental efforts, among others, continue to rely on the collaboration of our national partners.
There are opportunities and challenges here. We will make the most of the former and surmount the latter.”
