Assembly Speaker Urges Passage of Road Repair and Transportation Funding Bill

For immediate release:

(Sacramento) - Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) joined Gov. Jerry Brown and leaders from California’s business and labor communities to urge legislators pass Senate Bill 1, the landmark transportation investment package to fix our roads, freeways and bridges in communities across California and put more dollars toward transit and safety.

“Better roads, good jobs, shorter commutes, and fewer car repairs – that’s what our plan does,” Rendon said. “That’s why our plan deserves the vote of every legislator.”

The $5 billion-a-year program will save most drivers around $600 a year and comes with strict new accountability provisions to ensure funds can only be spent on transportation.

“With our plan, we can move, we can save, and we can protect,” Rendon added. “This plan saves commuters time, saves on repair costs, and moves tens of thousands of Californians into good jobs that have spinoff benefits in local communities.”

The Legislature is expected to vote on the measure tomorrow, April 6, 2017.

Rally for Passage of Road Repair and Accountability Act

(Sacramento) - Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) joined Gov. Jerry Brown and leaders from California’s business and labor communities to urge legislators pass Senate Bill 1, the landmark transportation investment package to fix our roads, freeways and bridges in communities across California and put more dollars toward transit and safety. “We can choose to do nothing, and see more deterioration, more time lost in traffic, and more damage to cars, or we can choose to advance this compromise solution that fixes California’s broken transportation system in a way where drivers will actually end up paying less for a better quality of life,” said Speaker Rendon.
