Rendon Appoints Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia to California Air Resources Board

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) today announced the appointment of Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) to fill the Assembly’s ex-officio position on the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

“Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia has helped guide some of the Legislature’s most important environmental bills, and he is a leader in advancing the idea that protecting the environment and improving public health are inextricably linked,” Rendon said. “Assemblymember Garcia is the perfect choice to promote the Assembly’s perspective as CARB does its important work to protect the people of California.”

"I am humbled and honored to accept Speaker Rendon's appointment to represent the Assembly on the California Air Resources Board. This is an excellent opportunity to increase collaboration between the legislature and the agency," said Garcia. "This oversight is essential to ensure equity and the implementation of impartial and inclusive policies. The board must serve the needs of all Californians and prioritize disadvantaged communities like those in my district plagued by poor air quality and high rates of respiratory related illnesses."

Assemblymember Garcia serves as chair of the Assembly’s Water Parks and Wildlife Committee. He also chairs the Joint Committee on Climate Change Policies.

The California Air Resources Board was established in 1967. It is California’s lead agency combatting air pollution and climate change.
