For immediate release:

Conference Committee Reaches Agreement on State Budget

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) and Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) released the following statement following the passage of the Budget Conference Committee report:

"The Budget Conference Committee’s report is both responsible and visionary. The report reflects many of the Legislature’s top priorities, including reducing poverty, restoring funding for schools and early childhood education, making college more accessible and affordable for California students, increasing the availability of affordable housing, and protecting California’s fiscal future by building up our budget reserves. The budget agreement also includes many elements of the Governor’s May Budget Revision, and we look forward to working with him to finalize another balanced, on time budget by June 15th."

The Speaker and Pro Tem thank the Budget Conference Committee for their leadership and hard work to reconcile the budget priorities between the two houses of the Legislature: Assemblymembers Phil Ting, Richard Bloom, Lorena Gonzalez, Jay Obernolte, and Kristin Olsen, and Senators Mark Leno, Patricia Bates, Loni Hancock, Ricardo Lara, and Jim Nielsen.
