Statement from Speaker Rendon on SeaWorld Announcement

For immediate release:

Speaker Rendon Pleased that Sea Word Will Halt Captive Orca Breeding

SACRAMENTO—Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) released the following statement regarding SeaWorld ending their captive orca breeding program:

“I was an early supporter of Assemblymember Richard Bloom’s bill to protect orcas from captive breeding and performing in shows, so I’m very pleased that SeaWorld has seen the light and is ending these immoral practices. Orcas are social, intelligent beings and we should do everything we can to help them flourish around the world. Assemblymember Bloom deserves our thanks for his leadership on this issue, and so do the activists who have been relentless on behalf of these amazing creatures.”
