Dr. Sanders recognized for her community involvement, commitment to mentorship, and devotion to education.
Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) today honored Long Beach resident Dr. Sabrina Sanders as the 2016 Woman of the Year for the 63rd Assembly District. “ Women like Dr. Sanders are the backbone of our communities,” Rendon said after recognizing Dr. Sanders at a ceremony at the State Capitol. “Her community involvement, commitment to mentorship, and devotion to education speak to her unwavering desire to make Long Beach and our state a better place. I’m exceptionally proud to recognize Dr. Sanders as our Woman of the Year.”
Dr. Sanders works at California State University Chancellor’s office supporting student academic programs at 23 campuses across the entire CSU system. Her community involvement includes serving as president of the Hamilton Neighborhood Association, commissioner on the Long Beach Community Investment Company, and member of the North Long Beach Whole Village Initiative.
Dr. Sanders mentors a number of young professionals and graduate students planning a career in higher education and was recognized by the Long Beach Post in its top “40 under 40” individuals contributing to the betterment of Long Beach.
Dr. Sanders earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration from California State University, San Marcos and her Doctorate in Education Leadership and Management from Alliant International University.
Rendon is serving in his second term representing the 63rd Assembly District, which includes the cities and communities of Bell, Cudahy, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, North Long Beach, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount, and South Gate.
