California Makes Climate Change History

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

(Sacramento) – Assemblywoman Autumn Burke (D-Inglewood) and a bipartisan majority of state legislators have approved landmark climate change measures, Assembly Bill 398 and Assembly Bill 617. The legislative package balances our economic, health and environmental concerns as California works to reach its 2030 climate targets and improve the lives of all residents. “The genesis of AB 398 came from a collective desire to bring our different interests – agriculture, workforce development, cost containment, legislative oversight, continuing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, update our cap-and-trade program together - and create a model for the world,” Assemblywoman Burke in her remarks to the State Assembly. “This legislature would not be at this moment, deciding on cap-and-trade and air quality, without the work of what has been a bipartisan effort.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
