Thursday, September 15, 2016

(Fresno, CA) – Standing on a rooftop in downtown Fresno, California State Assemblymember Autumn Burke (D-Inglewood) was joined by Governor Jerry Brown, Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount), Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) and Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno) for the historic signing of a package of climate change legislation.  Part of that package of bills includes Assemblymember Burke’s legislation, Assembly Bill 2722, which will channel cap-and-trade funds to a competitive grant program.  Grant monies will be directed to projects that benefit disadvantaged communities.

“Low income communities will not only see health and environmental benefits of greenhouse gas reduction,” said Assemblymember Burke.  “But small businesses and labor groups will see the benefits of jobs that reflect the new environmental economy.”
