Assemblywoman Autumn R. Burke (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court's decision on the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act:
"Today the Supreme Court upheld the legality of affordable health care for millions of Americans. Fortunately, in California we have already implemented our own health insurance exchange and our citizens were not at risk of losing their subsidies. But millions of our friends and family members in other states may well have found themselves on the outside of the health care system once again. The Supreme Court instead sided with justice and progress. I hope we can join with the President to make our health care system even stronger, rather than focusing on moving millions of Americans backward."
